I have a short term - hopefully one year, solution to the tens of thousands of immigrant children arriving at our borders.
If every small town or congregation of self proclaimed Christian-Judeo believers sponsored two to five of these frightened, lost children, they could be cared for as soon as possible. That would at least give our leaders, and I use the term loosely, a time frame to agree on a solution. We have a multitude of charitable organizations, who constantly request donations to aid children all over the world. It's time to spend some of this money here, especially since these countries are now sending their children here!
I know there are thousands of American children who are homeless. They also need our help. Maybe we should keep the money we are sending to the Central American countries. Then we could provide homes for our own children!
I'm guessing this is all wishful thinking. We have become too greedy to share, and our government is so dysfunctional, they cannot find the simplest answer to any real problem
may hurt U.S.
U.S. Rep. Mike McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee has proposed the lifting of the U.S. crude oil ban on exports. In 1975 Congress passed this ban in an effort to stabilize domestic oil and gas prices following the Arab Oil Embargo.
A lifting of the ban would allow U.S. produced oil to be exported and create shortages here at home, driving up the price of oil and subsequently the price of gas at the pump.
In essence we would be subsidizing the rest of the world's energy needs. Was this proposal to simply hurt Vladimir Putin, Russia and their oil exports or is it an effort to increase Big Oil's profits.
Can we afford to even contemplate a change of this magnitude?
