Former Dunkirk resident receives Ed.D

Adam Myers, son of Charles and MaryGrace Myers of Dunkirk, graduated from Gardner-Webb University with an educational doctorate (Ed.D) in curriculum and instruction. His dissertation was titled "The Experiences of Beginning Teachers Working in Low-Performing Schools with a Non-District Affiliated New Teacher Support Coach." Adam graduated from Dunkirk High School and Fredonia State University where he earned a B.A. in secondary English education. He worked as a middle and high school teacher in Charlotte, N.C. for ten years until he transitioned into a coaching role within the N.C. new teacher support program. Beginning in August, Myers will be a tenure-track faculty member in the education department at LaGrange College in southern Georgia. He will be moving with his wife and son to LaGrange, Ga.
