The final week of the annual Playground Drama Day Camp at SUNY Fredonia ends Saturday and includes a performance of "Pocket Full of Dreams," a world-premiere children's musical. The 3:30 p.m. performance will be held in the Marvel Theatre in the Rockefeller Arts Center and will feature child actors.
All tickets can be purchased for $7 each from the Central Ticket Office by calling 673-3501, online at www.fredonia.edu/tickets, or on the day of the show in the Marvel Theatre Lobby beginning at 2:30 p.m. There is a $2 per order processing fee for phone and Internet orders. Tickets can be bought with MasterCard, Visa or cash (no checks). Tickets should be available at the theatre Saturday.
Forestville needs volunteer
The Forestville Village Board is searching for a community volunteer to serve on the task force created when the village received a loan from the county. The task force will seek a study to examine the sustainability of village government in different capacities in the future. Interested parties can send a letter to the village clerk's office.
Silver Creek GOP caucus Tuesday
Village of Silver Creek Republicans will caucus at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Han-over Town Hall, 68 Hanover St., to nominate candidates for the positions of village trustee.
Only registered Republi-cans can vote at the caucus.
Portland Planning Board to meet Tuesday
The Portland Planning Board will host a meeting on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the town hall, 87 W. Main St., Brocton. The public is welcome to attend.
Fredonia ZBA to hold special meeting
There will be a special meeting of the Fredonia Zoning Board of Appeals for a public hearing continuation for Raya and Sandra Gopalan to erect a storage shed at 39 Birchwood Drive. The meeting is set for Tuesday starting at 6 p.m.

The Westfield Fire department is sponsoring a Back to School Celebration Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the park.
There will be a school supply drive held for Westfield Schools who have needy families.

Today at 1:45 p.m., Democratic Lt. Governor candidate Kathy Hochul of Buffalo will visit Fredonia's Barker Common and the annual Chautauqua County celebration of agriculture ... The Fredonia Farm Festival. All are invited to this event.
Civil War Talk at Cattaraugus County Museum Thursday
The Cattaraugus County Museum's summer-long Civil War Events series if drawing to a close. Its last evening event will take place Thursday when Craig Senfield will give a talk titled "President-Elect Lincoln," focusing on the period between Lincoln's election and his taking office.
Senfield is knowledgeable on all things pertaining to the Civil War, having been involved with the local Civil War Roundtable for many years. He is also an avid collector of Civil War artifacts, having loaned items to the County Museum for exhibits on a number of occasions. It will be a very interesting evening and will be free and open to the public.

Railroad crews making repairs next week
Railroad crews will make repairs to the Chautauqua County Route 12 (Niobe Road) Western New York and Pennsylvania railroad crossing located at Niobe in the Town of Harmony. Chautauqua County Route 12 will be closed to all traffic at the Western New York and Pennsylvania railroad crossing at Niobe beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday until 5 p.m. on Thursday. A detour will be posted.
Gas price falls
Average retail gasoline prices in New York have fallen 4.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.70/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 6,118 gas outlets in New York. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.0 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.45/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Including the change in gas prices in New York during the past week, prices Sunday were 12.9 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 16.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 13.2 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 8.5 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.
