A crowd of about 185 family members celebrated at the 60th Pagano annual family reunion held on Sunday, July 27 at the Willow Creek Winery in Sheridan.
The event began with a welcome speech given by Joseph Bowers. He later also called the numbers for the many raffles held. Michael T. Pagano presided over a short business meeting held after dinner. A moment of silence was observed for all the deceased members.
Guests were welcomed, including Brandon Christian (friend of Kelly Pagano), Emily Paulus (friend of Joseph Caine), Lisa Ellis, Lori Strzbach, Morgan Dispense (friend of Elizabeth Valvo), Alleyn Paul (guest of Alex Kaminski), and Lynanne Wolley (friend of Christian Restivo).

After defending their horseshoe championship title for two years, Dr. Paul Carlson and Frank Pagano relinquished their titles to the 2014 winners, Ron Bowers and John Heather, at the 60th Pagano Family Reunion held at Willow Creek Winery in Sheridan.
Keeping with tradition, a "Rotation of Birthdays" was celebrated. This year, all members with birthdays in July and August were honored while everyone sang. July birthdays included Frank Pagano, Bruce Valvo, Kevin Heaney, Sykora Jock, Marisa Pagano, Kristin Pagano, Rose Pagano, Mike Saletta, Pauline Sesnie, Rich Saletta, and Olivia Johnson. August birthdays included Samuel Bowers, Steven Pagano, Lisa Pagano, Renee Pagano, Terry Pagano Nelis, Katherine Cardinale, Kelly Pagano, Charlie Pagano, Steve Pagano, Alex Valenzulla, Dick Dolce, Kim Caine, Kendra McDermott, and Steven Jock.
This year's committee included Joseph and Kathy Dolce, Steve and Kathy Pagano, Michael G and Christina Pagano, and Michael Caine. Others who helped included Beverly Pagano, Linda Williams, Roseann Carlson, Marianne Bowers, Suzanne Schaff, Jennifer Restivo, Michael T. Pagano, and Mary Lou Pagano.
The following prizes were awarded: A 4-way tie for First Reservation Received went to Suzanne Schaff and Frank Pagano, Beverly Pagano, John and Joy Judski, and Charles Ricotta. The Oldest Female present was Celia Petrella, while the Oldest Male was Tom Tedesco. The youngest female present was Cecilia Pagan, daughter of Jill and John Pagan. The youngest male present was Charlie Pagano, son of Michael G. and Christina Pagano. The Farthest Travelled went to Jason Testut of Arkansas. John Judski and Bruce Valvo were the winners of the Money Raffle.
Mike Caine did a great job of keeping all of the children busy with games, a bounce house, and a pinata.
After two years, defending horseshoe champions Frank Pagano and Dr. Paul Carlson relinquished their titles to first place winners Ron Bowers and John Heather. Second place winners were Mike Caine and Nick Pagano. The first place winners received trophies, and the first and second place winners received money prizes.
The committee for the July 25, 2015 reunion include Angelo and Karen Pagano, Paul and Diane Pagano, Margaret and Don Close, and Mike Caine.
Relatives and guests traveled from Illinois, North Carolina, New Jersey, Long Island, Nebraska, Arkansas, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, and all of our local villages and cities.
Everyone had a grand time visiting with all the relatives and guests.
Roseann Carlson of Dunkirk compiled a book with information and dates concerning each family. The book contained older pictures of all the families as well as information about births, marriages and deaths. Carlson has worked on the book for 10 years. Family members were able to purchase it for a small fee.
In addition each family received a bottle of wine labeled with the family crest as souvenir of the reunion.
