Annual NCCYHA tourney concludes Sunday

The 30th Annual NCCYHA Invitational Hockey Tournament, sponsored by Lake Shore Savings, concluded Sunday afternoon at the Steele Hall Ice Arena, with the Midget, Squirt and PeeWee division champions crowned.

Host NCCYHA took titles in two of the three divisions, with the Midget Steelers beating Canandaigua, 6-0, and the PeeWees dropping the Hamburg Hawks, 3-2, in overtime. Winterhurst, Ohio won the Squirt Division, 6-1, over Southtowns.

Results from Sunday’s action is as follows:

PeeWee Division

NCCYHA Steelers 3, Hamburg Hawks 2, OT

Ethan Brunner had the overtime winner, as the Steelers dropped the Hawks for the PeeWee Division title. Zach Korzeniewski and Michael Norton earned the assists on the game-winning goal.

Norton scored the Steelers’ first goal on an assist from Rush while Korzeniewski scored the team’s second goal, with Cooper Harris and Alex Rush assisting. Brunner was named tournament MVP for the PeeWee division.

Parker Colling and Vincent Marzullo scored for the Hawks, with Jacob Togerson, Alexander Dzimian and Corbin Maggs earning assists.

Midget Division

NCCYHA 6, Canandaigua 0

Chris Buchanan led the way for the Steelers with a pair of goals while Nick Walter (two assists), Adam Dziduch, Andrew Chillemi (assist) and Michael Paradis (two assists) also scored. Hans Schober earned the shutout between the pipes.

Squirt Division

Winterhurst, Ohio 6, Southtowns 1

Brock Bisler had a hat trick for Winterhurst while Dylan Giraldo, TJ Brunner and Logan George also scored. Earning assists were Bisler (two), Girlado, Brunner, Jacob Boehringer (two), Patrick Ostrander and Chase Patouhas.

Alex Noel scored the Southtowns’ lone goal, with an assist going to Shane Brege.

Game 18

Midgets

Canandaigua 3, Perinton 3

Gavin Fuhrman (assist), Alec Melroy and Peter Michael Karekos (assist) all scored for Canandaigua, with an assist going to David Frelier.

For Perinton, Seth Vadney (assist), Nathaniel Brasser (assist), and Johnny Mattick all scored in the tie.

Game 19

PeeWee

Hamburg Hawks 6, Aurora 1

Vince Marzullo had a pair of goals for the Hawks in the win while Parker Colling, Jarrett Janowski (assist), Jack Redmond (assist) and Matt Murphy also netted a goal each. Earning assists were Austin Georgi and Ethan Bevilacqua.

Ryan Ensminger scored Aurora’s lone goal.

Game 20

Squirt

Winterhurst 6, Southtowns 0

Logan George (assist) had two goals for Winterhurst in the win while Chase Patouhas, Jacob Boehringer (two assists) and Brock Bisler all scored a goal each. Assists went to Kallen Zarembski (two), Seamus Kennedy, Jude Johnson and Dylan Giraldo.

Aiden Orlikowski earned the shutout between the pipes.
