Triple-doubles are week’s top performances
The Week in Review for local sports performances, Feb. 11 to Feb. 17:
TOP MALE PERFORMANCE
Devaun Farnham, Dunkirk. The senior captain made his Senior Night one to remember, recording a triple-double in the Marauders’ 69-66 victory over Maple Grove on Tuesday night. He had 19 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds to power his team to victory in a game that was close the entire way. Farnham followed up that performance by pouring in 35 points in a season-ending 90-86 win over Hutch-Tech Saturday afternoon.
TOP FEMALE
PERFORMANCE
Kayla Hohl, Pine Valley. Another senior, another Senior Night triple-double. Hohl dropped 36 points, grabbed 15 steals and pulled down 10 rebounds in the Lady Panthers’ 60-16 defeat of Salamanca on Wednesday night.
TOP TEAM
Chautauqua Lake girls basketball. The Lady Thunderbirds haven’t lost since a 53-47 home setback to Fredonia on Jan. 29. They avenged that loss with a 20-point win on the Lady Billies’ home court three days later and have since added on three more double-digit victories. The biggest one was a 62-38 smashing of Southwestern on Monday, a team that was 17-0 going into the game.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“We love each other, we play for each other and we have a great time.” — Fredonia senior Hannah Gullo, talking about her Lady Hillbillies basketball teammates Monday on Fredonia’s Senior Night.
