Lady Cougars defeat Clymer with 11 hits as a team

OBSERVER Staff Report

SINCLAIRVILLE — Cassadaga Valley kept up its winning ways on Thursday, with an 8-2 defeat of Clymer in a CCAA Division 2 West high school softball game at Cassadaga Valley High School.

Cassadaga Valley (5-0, 2-0) tallied 11 hits as a team on Thursday against Clymer pitcher Erica Gustafson. Though the Clymer senior managed to strike out eight batters over six innings, the Lady Cougars were able to tally more than enough offensive support for Cassadaga Valley pitcher Brittyn LeBaron.

LeBaron pitched a complete game for Cassadaga Valley, tallying seven strikeouts, while only allowing three hits and two walks. Holly Crandall added two insurance runs on a two-run triple, just an inning after a costly error in the field.

“Those insurance runs were really big,” said Cassadaga Valley coach Ken Balling.

LeBaron helped her own cause with three hits at the plate, while Bella Ruiz and Hannah Edwards also had multi-hit games for the Lady Cougars. Trinity Stacy had a triple and a run scored for Clymer.

Cassadaga Valley faces Forestville today, in what Balling called “a good test” for his undefeated Lady Cougars.
