Lady Thunderbirds shut out Falconer

RIPLEY — The Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds (2-0) shut out the Falconer Lady Golden Falcons, 8-0, in a CCAA West 1 high school softball game Friday.

Winning pitcher Olivia Anderson had a complete game shutout for Chautauqua Lake, with 12 strikeouts. She gave up five hits and one walk.

The top hitters for CL included Katie Fardink, with three hits, including a double, and three runs; Cianna Braymiller, with a triple and four runs batted in; Lilly Studley, with two hits and two runs; and Cameryn Hawkins, with two hits and an RBI.

Top hitter for Falconer (0-2) was Macy Youngberg with three singles. The other two hits belonged to Nicole Youngberg, who hit a double, and Olivia Adam.

The Thunderbirds started out with a run in the bottom of the first. Fardink got on first with her first single of the night, stole second, moved to third in a groundout and then scored on a fielder’s choice. The team then put up two runs in the third, one run in the fourth and tacked on four more runs in the fifth inning.

Falconer pitcher Ashley Pierce pitched a complete game, striking out four and walking two while giving up nine hits.

The Lady Thunderbirds play in Silver Creek on Monday, while Falconer will host Fredonia that day, in a couple of CCAA West 1 matchups.
