Bulldogs advance to D final with 1-0 victory
BROCTON — A first-inning run was all the Brocton Bulldogs needed to beat Franklinville, 1-0, Thursday in a Class D semifinal.
Charlie Rexford hit into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded in the first, driving home Riley Rivera.
“We only mustered five hits,” Brocton coach Ray Rosas said. “Riley Rivera was 2 for 3 and Jordan Krystofiak was 2 for 3 with a double.”
Ronald Brown pitched a complete game for the Bulldogs victory, striking out 10, allowing four hits and walking no one.
“He pitched a game just like we thought he would … he worked out of some jams,” rosas said. “This was a more defensive game. It was good to see everybody play defense, we picked each other up.”
Brock Blecha pitched a complete game for Franklinville in defeat, striking out seven.
Brocton plays in the Class D final Saturday at the Jefferson Middle School complex in Jamestown.
