FHS track teams 5th, 6th at Falconer Invitational

FALCONER — Fredonia High School’s girls track team competed at the Falconer Invitational held Friday night, and finished fifth out of 14 teams. The FHS boys’ team was sixth out of 15 teams.

Three Lady Billies grabbed first place finishes in individual events. Lydia Lanski won the 100 meter hurdles in 15.66. Emily Brown was first place in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:06.73. Claire Stokes was the high jump champion, reaching a height of 5 feet.

Other FHS competitors included:

— Lauren Kluck, fourth place in shot put (30’3″)

— Fotini Landis, fifth place in 200 (28.41)

— Adrianna Pucci, eighth place in long jump (13’10”)

— Lydia Lanski, Anna Buchanan, Claire Lanski, Emily Brown, second place in 1600 relay (4:25.88)

— Lydia Lanski, Fotini Landis, Anna Buchanan, Adrianna Pucci, fourth place in 400 relay (54.33).

On the boys’ side, Jake Guerra snagged a second-place finish for Fredonia in the shot put, with a top throw of 39’2″. Diego Rey was also second, in the 800, with a time of 2:03.27. The 400 relay team of Dyress Batten, Andrew Field, Andrew Kennedy and Joell Colon grabbed a third second-place finish for the Hillbilly boys, finishing in 46.29.

Other Fredonia competitors included:

— Jack Carlson, Kevin Redfield, Joshua Johnson, Diego Rey, fourth place in 3200 relay (8:58.56)

— Joell Colon, fourth place in 100 (11.62)

— Rian Budzinski, eighth place in 400 (55.66)

— Diego Rey, third (4:47.86) and Jack Carlson, seventh in 1600 (4:53.87)

— Joshua Johnson, sixth place in 3200 (10:19.46)

— Jake Guerra, sixth place in discus (104’11”)
