Fredonia’s own Marina Kessler competed in her final college golf tournament for Jamestown Community College on Saturday, leading the JCC women with a round of 86 at Willowbrook Country Club.

Kessler pitched in to save par on her final hole of her JCC career.

“She has been a coach’s dream,” said JCC coach Dan Vona. “She has a 4.0 GPA, she listened to everything I said … she basically shaved off 10 strokes in two weeks.”

Vona said he hopes Kessler will continue to keep golf as a part of her life.

The JCC men played at Batavia Community College on Sunday, highlighted by Anthony Miller’s 79. Dillan Labarbra shot an 82, while freshman Nick Moler shot an 85, with a 39 on the back nine, which Vona called a “great comeback.”

JCC will head to regionals on May 14-15 in Syracuse, followed by nationals at Chautauqua CC June 5-8.
