Fredonia’s Kessler receives NJCAA academic honors

Several Jamestown Community College student athletes were recognized recently by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for their academic achievements. Students must achieve grade point average and athletic participation expectations to be recognized at regional and national levels.

JCC’s women’s volleyball team (3.42 grade point average), women’s basketball team (3.42 GPA) and women’s soccer team (3.15 GPA) were recognized as all-academic teams.

Named to the first team were Annalise Boyer of Randolph, Heidi Hoden of Lakewood and Morgan Schoonover of Olean of women’s soccer; MacKenzie Marsh of Randolph, volleyball; Marina Kessler of Fredonia, golf; Ryan Johnson of Brocton, baseball; and Taylor Phelps of Ashville, women’s basketball.

Included on the second team were Hayden Burgeson of Lakewood, women’s basketball; Kaylin Brumagin of Cattaraugus, volleyball; Kennedy Scott of Bolivar, women’s soccer; and Olivia Lynn of Dewittville, women’s basketball.

Third team honorees included Abigail Merchant of Jamestown, Alyssa McCarthy of Kennedy, and Rebecca Butcher of South Dayton, women’s soccer; Autumn Ridout of Frewsburg and Christine Kuzminski of Jamestown, swimming and diving; Brittany Lancaster of Cassadaga and Emilee Sperry of Ashville, women’s basketball; Caleb Palmatier of Franklinville, baseball; Joshua Snyder, wrestling; Luis Felipe Diaz Guerra of Bogota, Colombia and Nyle Bird of Jamestown, men’s soccer; and Joshua Snyder of Pittsfield, PA, wrestling.
