Special to The OBSERVER

SILVER CREEK — Two local high school volleyball teams are teaming up to fight cancer at the “Spiking Out Leukemia” game planned Wednesday, Oct. 17. The Silver Creek Central School District and the Fredonia Central School District volleyball teams will play at 6 p.m. in the Silver Creek gymnasium. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a concession stand. Bracelets, shirts and socks will be sold at the event. The shirts — available in either orange for Fredonia or white for Silver Creek — are also being offered pre-sale for $15 so that students and staff can wear them to school Oct. 17 and to the game.

All proceeds will go to finding a cure for leukemia and three local families affected by cancer. Proceeds will benefit the family of a girl from the Lake Shore school district who lost her battle with cancer a year ago. She was a very good friend of many students at Silver Creek. The families of two young ladies at Fredonia Elementary and Middle Schools who are currently battling leukemia will also receive some of the proceeds.

Contact teacher Jessica Kardashian at jkardashian@silvercreekschools.org to donate a basket for the raffle or volunteer.
