WESTFIELD — The Westfield/Brocton Wolverines came away with a 1-0 win thanks to a late goal from Nathan Culbreth to beat Chautauqua Lake in a non-league contest, Friday, at North Lake.

Westfield/Brocton (10-4, 7-2) was locked in a scoreless game through the first half. With ten minutes left in the game, Culbreth connected on a cross from Darien Swanson and found the back of the net for Friday’s only goal.

“Both teams played about even today,” said Westfield/Brocton head coach Jay Pikiewicz. “It was a tight game all the way to the end, we just got the late goal.”

Mike Johnson made five saves for the Wolverines in net. Westfield/Brocton managed seven shots on goal.

The Wolverines have two games remaining in the regular season. They travel to Southwestern on Tuesday, before returning home for Senior Night on the athletic fields behind Westfield Academy on Thursday.
