Fredonia falls to Saint Mary’s

LANCASTER — The Fredonia Hillbillies girls basketball team opened their season on Friday night, losing to Saint Mary’s by a final score of 91-30.

Saint Mary’s jumped out in front early and never looked back as the Hillbillies weren’t able to recover.

Kelly Gullo led the Hillbillies with eight points.

“Saint Mary’s coach said this is one of the best teams he’s ever had,” said Fredonia head coach Mark Putney. “Every girl that got in the game participated and played very hard. I’m proud of them.”

Saint Mary’s freshman Shay Ciezki finished with 26 points along with four three pointers.

Fredonia (0-1) will play again on Thursday at the Allegany Tournament against Genesee Valley at 7:30 p.m.
