OBSERVER Staff Report

The Fredonia boys swim team dropped their match in the pool on Thursday, falling to undefeated Frewsburg 115-67.

Returning from illness this week was Fredonia’s top swimmer Bill Osula. Osula led the Hillbillies on Thursday by winning both the 50 yard freestyle (22.84) and the 100 freestyle (51.52).

“It was good to have Bill back after being out last week,” said Fredonia head coach Bob Ball. “With a month left, he wants to knock that 50 time down into the 21s to qualify.”

Fredonia senior Aaron Pacos also showed well in the 500 freestyle finishing with a time under seven minutes (6:57.54) for the first time this season.

“I was happy for Aaron. He’s a senior leader and he’s been working hard all season for us,” said Ball.

Matt Brockelbank won the 100 breaststroke (1:13.12) and the 200 medley relay team of Brockelbank, Finn Frerichs, Ronan Murphy and Tyler Donahue won with a time of 1:58.04.

Fredonia (5-3) will be back in the pool on Tuesday when they travel to Panama.

“We just need to keep moving forward and work on getting our times down while getting ready for the county meets,” added Ball.
