Haynes’ OT goal lifts Blue Devils over Chatham, 2-1
VALENCIA, Pa. — Jacob Haynes scored with 46 seconds left in overtime to carry No. 14-ranked Fredonia over Chatham, 2-1, in non-conference men’s hockey.
Jon Carlson picked up the lone assist on the score by Haynes, his sixth goal of the season and his second game-winner.
Victor Tracy also scored for the Blue Devils (11-2-2) while Eric Bogart made 27 saves and improved to 8-0-0 this season.
Tracy put Fredonia on top, 1-0, at 9:16 of the first period, his fifth goal of the season.Michael Lamison scored at 17:39 as the first period ended in a 1-1 tie.
The second and third periods were scoreless.
The Blue Devils outshot the Cougars, 41-28, and had a wide advantage in faceoffs won, 63-20. Ethan Kirbis won 17 of 19 draws, Tyler Riter 18 of 27, and Ryan Dunn 16 of 20.
Fredonia defeated Chatham, 7-3. on Oct. 26 at Steele Hall. The Cougars fell to 4-10-1 with Thursday’s loss at Frozen Pond Arena.
The Blue Devils are idle until next Friday, Jan., 10, when they visit Geneseo, followed by a home game Jan. 11 vs. Brockport.
