The Section VI boys and girls basketball playoff brackets were released on Saturday, officially awarding home quarterfinal playoff games to four local teams. The Silver Creek Black Knights earned home games in both boys and girls Class C1 brackets, while the Westfield Wolverines boys will host a Class C2 quarterfinal and the Forestville Lady Hornets will host a Class D quarterfinal, as well.

The Silver Creek girls basketball team earned the 3-seed in Class C1 and will host Cattaraugus/Little Valley on Thursday at 7 p.m. With a win on Thursday, Silver Creek would head to Jamestown Community College to face the winner of 7-seed Falconer and 2-seed Middle Early College in the Class C1 semifinals.

The Silver Creek boys basketball team earned the 4-seed in Class C1. Awaiting them is a showdown with 5-seed Chautauqua Lake in Silver Creek on Friday night at 7 p.m. The winner of that matchup will advance to the semifinals on Monday, Feb. 25 at Jamestown Community College, to face either 9-seed Cattaraugus/Little Valley, 8-seed Portville, or the No. 1 seed in Class C1 — Middle Early College.

The Westfield Wolverines earned the 4-seed in Class C2 after the first division title since 2000 in Westfield. Their playoff journey kicks off on Friday night at 7 p.m. against 5-seed Bennett. With a win, Westfield would advance to the semifinals at Jamestown Community College against either 9-seed Maple Grove, 8-seed Cassadaga Valley, or top-seeded Ellicottville. That game would be Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 5:15 p.m.

The Forestville Lady Hornets earned the 4-seed in Class D after a 4-15 regular season. The Lady Hornets had won just five games in the previous three seasons combined, but with a core of Sylvea Cleary and twin sisters Phoebe Kingsfield and Clare Kingsfield, Forestville comes in as the favorite over 5-seed North Collins. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday at Forestville High School, with the winner set to face 1-seed Panama at Jamestown Community College in the semifinals on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m.
