Silver Creek girls beat up Salamanca

SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek girls basketball team got back on track on Monday, topping Salamanca 71-32 in CCAA Div. 1 East league action at Silver Creek High School.

Abby Rice scored a whopping 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while leading the Black Knights to victory.

Jaeleigh Cruz scored 19 points while Kiera Brennan added 14 points to help the Black Knights along the way.

“It was a good team win, the girls played really well together,” said Silver Creek head coach Tammy Rice.

Zoe Gross and Leya Slade each scored eight points to lead the way for Salamanca.

Silver Creek (12-5, 6-4) will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Falconer in their Hoops for Hospice game.

Franklinville 72, Fredonia 37

FRANKLINVILLE — Franklinville’s Dani Haskell scored a game-high 31 points and led the Panthers past the Fredonia girls basketball team on Monday, 72-37 in non-league action.

Ally Walton-Bald scored 10 points to lead the way for the Hillbillies and Nagely Vazquez scored six points and had a huge block on a 3-point shot late in the game despite the loss.

“I’m really proud of the way our girls played tonight,” said Fredonia head coach Mark Putney. “Everybody got to play and everybody had tremendous attitude tonight.”

Fredonia (6-11, 1-9) will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Randolph on their Senior Night.

Cassadaga Valley 48, Catt-Little Valley 31

CATTARAUGUS — Isabella Ruiz scored 14 points while leading the Cassadaga Valley girls basketball team to victory on Monday, defeating Catt-Little Valley, 48-31 in non-league action.

Brooke Repine scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds and Meghan LeBaron scored seven points to help the Cougars claim victory.

Catt-Little Valley was led by Erin Washburn with 10 points.

Cassadaga Valley (11-7, 5-6) will be back in action today when they take on Clymer.

Maple Grove 64, Dunkirk 44

DUNKIRK — Bre Hill scored 15 points, Courtney Hemminger had 14 and Marisa Schuppenhauer added 13 to pace Maple Grove to a 64-44 Division 1 West victory over Dunkirk.

Hill and Hemminger each grabbed seven rebounds, and Schuppenhauer dished out seven assists, helping the Lady Red Raiders improve to 15-3 overall and 7-3 in the division. Anna Tranum contributed 10 points.

Kymi Nance led Dunkirk with 19 points and Nadara Odell added 13.

Maple Grove led 28-23 at halftime, but outscored the Lady Marauders, 36-21, after the break.
