Black Knights baseball shines, while Lady T’Birds fly high

Silver Creek 4, Chautauqua Lake 1

SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek Black Knights (3-1, 2-1) plated three runs in the first inning and that was all pitcher Jeremy Wilcox needed in a 4-1 verdict over Chautauqua Lake (0-3, 1-3) on Tuesday in CCAA Division 1 West high school baseball.

Wilcox threw a complete-game one-hitter, striking out nine and walking four.

“Jeremy was ahead of count most of the time and very effective with offspeed pitches,” Silver Creek Mike Janisch said. “He is a real bulldog on the mound.”

The Thunderbirds’ Cody Triana scored the team’s only run after reaching on a walk and crossing home plate on Nate Engdahl’s RBI groundout.

The Black Knights return to action today at Cassadaga Valley.
