Gowanda tops Eden in boys track, 98-39

GOWANDA — The Gowanda High School varsity boys track and field team defeated Eden by the score of 98-39 in a non-league meet Friday at Hillis Field in Gowanda. It was the Panthers’ third win of the season against one loss.

“We do not have a large squad but we are very balanced,” said Gowanda coach Mark Benton. “Every one of our 15 athletes contributed.”

Freshman Donnavin Groenewold won the 100 and 200 meter dash and anchored the winning 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m meter relay teams. Senior Austin Jankowski remained undefeated in the 110 meter high hurdles, won the high jump and was on the winning 4 x 100m meter relay team. Harry Kaus Jr. won the 400m dash, long jump and triple jump. Dominik Rodriguez was also a triple winner as he won the pole vault, 400m hurdles and anchored the victorious 4 x 800m relay team. Andrew Musacchio was a double winner with victories in both the shot put and discus throw. The final first place winner for the Panthers was Jason Umlah in the 800m run.

Gowanda will host Falconer/Cassadaga Valley next, on Tuesday, April 16.
