Pine Valley falls to Franklinville

PINE VALLEY — Pine Valley (0-1) stumbles in home opener against Franklinville (3-0, 2-0), 9-0, in a Section VI CCAA Division 2 East baseball game at Pine Valley High School.

Pine Valley opened their season against Franklinville and ran into a hot pitcher in Jacob Peters. Peters pitched the whole game and only gave up two hits, while striking out 10 and getting a shut out.

Corey Ellis was the lone Panther to solve Peters, as he went 2-3 with two singles.

Kevin Hunt was on the mound for Pine Valley and went 5 2/3 innings, while giving up four earned runs on four hits, four walks and six strikeouts.

Franklinville came into the sixth inning only up 1-0, but blew it open with six runs. The inning started with an error and saw more struggles along the way. Vinny Marchese was the driving force behind Franklinville’s offense as he went 3-4 with two RBI and scored three of their runs.

Pine Valley will seek their first win on Wednesday when they travel to Randolph.
