SOUTH DAYTON — The Pine Valley Panthers claimed their second win of the year in CCAA Division 2 East baseball action on Thursday with a 6-4 win over Randolph at Pine Valley High School.

“We played really solid baseball today,” said Pine Valley head coach Chris Buczek.

Pine Valley (2-11, 2-7) scored three runs in the second inning off Randolph’s starting pitcher Ashton Bushey, but Randolph answered with three runs of their own in the third inning to tie the game. Pine Valley wasn’t discouraged, however, answering back with a run in each of the next two turns at the plate to take a lead the Panthers would not give away again.

Brennan Sercu led the way for the Panthers at the plate on Thursday, with three hits including a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Kevin Hunt added two hits and four RBI for Pine Valley. Hunt also earned the win on the mound for Pine Valley, with 5 2/3 innings pitched, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out five.

Mason Pagett got the loss for Randolph (7-4, 6-4) after four innings with three runs allowed. He allowed five hits and one walk, with four strikeouts. Josh Brown was 3-for-3 with a walk in four turns to bat for Randolph, with a run scored and two RBI.
