Special to The OBSERVER

Gowanda Little League’s Jonathan Smuda participated in the Scotts Pitch, Hit and Run competition on May 18. Smuda, along with six other little league players, advanced to the regional round, hosted by Wilson Little League on June 1. From that point, scores were compared with players from the other regional competitions, in which Johnny scored well enough to advance to the June 15 competition hosted at the home of the NY Mets, Citi Field.

Smuda took first place in his age group and could be representing Gowanda Little League at the 2019 MLB All-Star game in Cleveland. Gowanda Little League wished Smuda congratulations and said, “We couldn’t ask for a better ambassador!” Smuda is currently playing for Gowanda’s Designer Pools 13-16 senior league team.
