North Collins’ David Gullo named First Team All-Star

The CCAA Division 2 East All-Star baseball teams were announced this week, featuring local names throughout the list. Pine Valley tallied two First Team selections, two Second Team selections and two Honorable Mentions, while North Collins had a First Team selection and two Honorable Mentions, as well.

Pine Valley senior Kevin Hunt was named to the First Team All-Stars, as was Pine Valley junior Corey Ellis. The duo’s teammates Sam Hunt and Makiah Snyder made the Second Team, while David Hunt and Brennan Sercu made Honorable Mention.

For North Collins, senior captain David Gullo made the First Team, while Christian Loretto and Tyler Mathis each made Honorable Mention.

Frewsburg, the Division 2 East champions, ran away with the individual awards. Frewsburg coach Jay Grann earned CCAA East 2 Coach of the Year, as his team went 8-2 in league play this season. The CCAA East 2 Player of the Year was Aaron Hair of Frewsburg, who stood out offensively and on the mound for the Bears this season. The Frewsburg junior registered a 4-1 record with an earned run average under 1.00 this year, while batting .410 at the plate.

Hair, Nick Marsh and Jack Yost made the First Team All-Stars from Frewsburg, while Nolan Brink, Traden Gray and Jason Dustin made the Second Team and Caleb Carr was Honorable Mention. Randolph, Franklinville and Ellicottville all had two First Team All-Star selections apiece.
