There were plenty of smiles among these golfers on the putting green at last year’s Fredonia Alumni Golf Tournament.

Registration is underway for the Fredonia Alumni Golf Tournament, a popular event that raises money to support scholarships for students at the State University of New York at Fredonia, to be held on Friday, July 19, at Shorewood Country Club, 4958 W. Lake Road, Dunkirk.

Sponsored by Fredonia University Police and the Fredonia College Foundation, the annual tournament has raised nearly $200,000 since 2009, with net proceeds going to scholarships.

The tournament is a four-player scramble, with each team selecting the best shot from the tee through the last putt. Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m. and are followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The afternoon concludes with dinner, tournament awards and numerous prize giveaways.

Individual golfers, in addition to teams, are welcomed and will be assigned to foursomes. There is a limit of 36 teams (144 golfers). Proper golf attire is required at Shorewood.

Those wishing to support the tournament but do not golf may attend the dinner to be served at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Cost per golfer is $125 or $500 for a team of four. Registration is due by Friday, July 5 and can be placed at www.fredonia.edu/alumnigolf. For more information, contact spencer.morgan@fredonia.edu
