WESTFIELD — The Family and Alumni Community 5K Fun Run Scavenger Hunt or 1 Mile Walk, also called the Run for Bereda, will take place on Saturday, July 13 at 8:30 a.m. This 5K takes place in historic Westfield and features a brilliant scavenger hunt of Westfield memories and history. The proceeds from the race benefit the Bereda interactive family trail development at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History in memory of Brennen and Finley Bereda.

Bring your smart phone to capture pictures of your team members for photo evidence for the scavenger hunt.

Family and friends team up and show us your best team spirit and team theme in honor of Westfield Academy and Central School’s Alumni Weekend. Fun awards will be presented for the best team categories such as best dressed, largest alumni team, most athletic, least athletic, loudest, largest family, most colorful and most dramatic.

Children 10 and under are free and encouraged to join the 1 mile walk with adult supervision.

Professional timing and medal ceremonies are in place for those who wish to only partake in the traditional 5K event.

Historic Westfield is located in the heart of Lake Erie Wine Country. The 5K takes you past grape vines and has a spectacular view of Lake Erie. The village of Westfield is home to many antique shops, restaurants, bakeries and surrounded by numerous wineries.

We are currently seeking mile sponsors to help with race costs. Suggested donation amounts are $50. Signage will be included at the race mile and posts to social media. Please use contact info below if you are interested.

NEW FOR 2019: The 5K race will start and finish on Oak Street adjacent to Moore Park in the village of Westfield. The course map is shown below and runners and walkers are both welcome. This is also a stroller friendly event!

Online registration will remain open right up until the night before the race. Race day registration and packet pickup will take place beginning at 7:30 a.m. right up until the start of the race at 8:30 a.m.

Awards will be presented to the 1st place overall male and female finishers in the 5K race and age group awards will be given to the top 3 male and female 5K runners in each of the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older.

Gun start/chip finish timing services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions.
