OLEAN — The Fredonia Hillbillies (3-7-2, 2-5-2) suffered a tough 3-1 loss to Olean (10-4, 6-4) in a Section VI CCAA West girls soccer game at Olean High School, on Thursday.

The Lady Huskies opened the scoring early as Lydia Hendrix scored an unassisted goal in the third minute. Nearly 30 minutes later, Olean added to their lead with a goal by Rylie Gumtow assisted by Alexis Gibbons.

Fredonia responded almost immediately to Olean’s second goal as Emily Timmerman scored unassisted, and made it 2-1 headed into halftime.

Hendrix eliminated any hope of a Fredonia comeback nine minutes into the second half as she scored on a pass from Chrissy Martin. Emma Edwards made three neccessary saves in net for the Lady Huskies victory. While Kelly Gullo made seven saves in the effort.

Fredonia is back in action on Saturday in Frewsburg.

North Collins 3, Chautauqua Lake 1

MAYVILLE — The North Collins Lady Eagles (7-5-2, 6-4-1) surged past the Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds (6-8, 4-7) in the second half for a 3-1, Section VI CCAA Central girls soccer victory at Chautauqua Lake High School, on Thursday.

After going down in the first half by a Mercedez Obert goal assisted by Kylie Keefe, the Lady Eagles had their work cut out for them to get a victory.

The Lady Eagles battled all game and were finally rewarded in the 20th minute of the second half as Anna Parnitzke found the back of the net on a Kyrstin Lehnortt pass and tied the game at 1-1. Four minutes later, Maddie Turnbull found Rebecca Holmes and Holmes gave North Collins the lead. Six minutes later, Holmes iced the game as she found the back of the net again and gave North Collins the eventual 3-1 victory.

The Lady Eagles victory could not have been without Myah Gabel’s stellar 17 save performance in net. Hailey Roush turned in 10 saves for the Lady Thunderbirds on the night.

North Collins is back in action on Saturday with a nonleague game at Eden. The Lady Thunderbirds will play at Randolph on Tuesday.
