Fredonia native Megan Kyte signs D-I softball scholarship at Drexel

Megan Kyte of Fredonia signed her National Letter of Intent this week to play Division I softball at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. Kyte attends the Nichols School in Buffalo, where she signed her NLI with several other recruited athletes. She was recruited through her travel team, the Stars National, out of Vienna, VA.
Kyte has been playing softball since she was eight years old, starting out in Fredonia Little League and then to the Diamond Girls travel softball organization in Buffalo. She was then recruited at a National Tournament in Virginia to play for the Stars National organization.
Kyte has played with the Virginia team for the last four years. The Stars play in the top national tournaments in the country, including the PGF Nationals in Huntington Beach, CA, Independence Day Tourney in Boulder, CO, Atlanta Legacy, Altanta, GA, Team New Jersey, Edison, NJ and DeMarini Invitational Showcase in Chicago, IL.
Kyte has received Monsignor Martin awards every year, including First Team honors in 2018. She was also named to the All-WNY Athletics team in 2016 and was Nichols Varsity Softball MVP for the last three years. In 2019, Kyte was selected to play for the Great Britain U19 National Team and competed in the Canada Cup in the summer of 2019 against international competition. This summer, she plans to tryout for the Great Britain Women’s National Team that will compete in the XXII Women’s European Championship in Friuli Region, Italy.
Kyte will be studying photography/photojournalism at Drexel University in the fall of 2020.
