North Collins loses Far West Regional

OBSERVER Staff Report

HILTON — The North Collins Eagles suffered the same fate as every Section VI champion did this season, with a loss in the Far West Regional game against Section V’s Fillmore, by a score of 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Hilton High School. With the loss, every Section VI champion failed to qualify for the State Final Four.

North Collins (9-8) earned a berth in the game after a pair of postseason shutout wins over Pine Valley and Riverside to defend its Section VI title. On Saturday, the Eagles shut out Fillmore in the second half, but Fillmore was too much for North Collins in the first 40 minutes of play.

Despite the loss, the future looks bright for the back-to-back Section VI champs, as every goal scorer from this season, including junior leading scorer Alex Teijeira, are expected back next season.
