After winning the CCAA Division 1 West boys soccer title with a perfect league record of 10-0, it was to no surprise that the Southwestern Trojans were all over the All-Star teams. Trojan Michael Carnes earned Player of the Year and McKay Young won Offensive Player of the Year. Jason Deering earned Coach of the Year after leading his team to an undefeated season in the division.

Erik Peterson earned Defensive Player of the Year after a stellar season in net for the Chautauqua Lake Thunderbirds and Dunkirk’s Ashton Witkowski earned the Team Sportsmanship Award to round out the individual awards.

The local area saw several names crack the first team all-stars. Fredonia had three players represented, senior Michael Dispense and juniors Juan Matias and Alex Rush — all at the midfield position. Matias led the Hillbillies in scoring in his first year with the team, scoring five goals and getting five assists.

The Hillbillies are joined in the midfield on first team by rival senior Marauder Alex Sanchez. Sanchez led Dunkirk in scoring this season with three goals and two assists.

Chautauqua Lake added three names to first team, with one at each position. Junior Hunter Harris got the nod after leading the Thunderbirds in scoring with 10 goals and one assist at forward, while junior Carson D’Anthony made it as a midfielder after scoring three goals and five assists. Defensive Player of the Year Peterson also earned first team honors after a stellar year in net.

Fredonia’s Juan Matias dribbles during a game earlier this year. In his first year with the Hillbillies, Matias led the team in scoring and earned himself a spot on the first team all-star list for CCAA Division 1 West.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s lone representative on first team was junior defender Jacob Thierfeldt.

The second team all-stars saw had three more Hillbillies named to it with junior Adam Sellari at midfield, junior Michael Berg at defender and senior Alex Maytum at defender. Dunkirk seniors Nick Hayes and Adam Sanchez earned second team spots at forward and defense, respectively. Locally, the second team was rounded out by Falconer/Cassadaga Valley junior defender Jared Dorman and Chautauqua Lake sophomore midfielder Devin Putney.
