Falconer girls win Cassadaga tourney

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Falconer Golden Falcons came away as tournament champions in the Cassadaga Valley Tip-off girls basketball tournament at Cassadaga Valley High School with a 51-44 win over the Cassadaga Valley Cougars on Saturday afternoon.

Sarah Disbro scored a game-high 23 points, including 11-14 from the free throw line, to lead Falconer (2-1) to victory. Disbro was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Also from Falconer, Rachel Harper had 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Grace Lundmark added 10 points and four steals. Courtney Peterson also had 12 rebounds and three steals to go with five points, while Ava Fenton had four assists. Fenton was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Cassadaga Valley (3-1) was led by Bella Ruiz with 14 points, while Sarah Meder had 11 points. Meghan LeBaron had seven points, but added 16 rebounds, three blocks, three assists and three steals. Kaylee Pattyson had four points with nine rebounds and six blocks.

Also on the All-Tournament Team were Meghan LeBaron and Kaylee Pattyson from Cassadaga Valley, Miya Scanlan from Gowanda and Katie Bodenmiller from Westfield/Brocton. Gowanda defeated Westfield/Brocton in the third place game on Saturday.
