Dunkirk cheer team earns bid to compete in Orlando

The Core Athletix 716 Silver All-Star cheerleading team from Dunkirk received a bid to the Summit at their first competition of the season. They were the second highest score out of over 80 teams of all levels. The Summit is the “Super Bowl” for All-Star cheer and is held at the Disney ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Florida. The team is made up of girls from all over Chautauqua and Cattaraugus County ages 7 to 14. This is the first time the Silver team has received a bid. These athletes are in the gym at least three days a week for two hours each day. They work hard in the gym and have created an amazing bond with one another.

The athletes are raising money to fund their trip to Disney. Currently until Jan. 30, the athletes are selling tickets for a Super Bowl Basket Raffle for $5 apiece. Also, you can return your cans and bottles to Can Kings, Dons Car Wash or Can do Redemption Center and say they are for Core Athletix. The athletes will be at Walmart in Fredonia collecting donations Jan. 24 4-8 p.m. and Jan. 25 10-4 p.m. and Feb. 8 10-4 p.m. They are also having a practice wear fundraiser through Younique from Jan. 8-18 just go to www.MelanieKorz.com and click CA Silver Practice Wear as the party at check out. In March, the parents will be selling wheel barrow of liquor raffle tickets.
