BROCTON — Brocton High School senior Jenelle Grigelevich recently signed her letter of intent with Mercyhurst University North East to play college softball. After careful consideration of numerous offers from all over New York State, Maine, Virginia, and her home state of Florida, she is excited about pursuing her Environmental Sciences degree at Mercyhurst North East in Pennsylvania.

Grigelevich is a scholar athlete and the starting catcher for the Brocton Lady Bulldogs softball team. She is in her fourth year of varsity softball at Brocton Central School. She started playing softball over 10 years ago in Mayville. Her dedication and enthusiasm behind the plate and on the field is unparalleled.

“Jenelle has progressed her skill level to where she will be successful at the collegiate level. Assuming she consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic in furthering developing her strengths, I have no doubt that she will be a valuable asset to the team,” said Athletic Director/Coach Julie Arnold.

Grigelevich has won numerous awards over the years, including a CCAA Division 2 West First Team All-Star selection a year ago. She has maintained an excellent batting average of .622 in Brocton, and .727 in travel. She plays and practices year around travel softball based out of Northtowns in Buffalo on the Amherst Thunder and is currently on the 21U Team.

“Jenelle brings an attitude and energy to the game that is infectious amongst her peers. Extremely coachable and determined, I am thrilled she will be taking her talents to the next level at Mercyhurst,” said Thunder Coach Christian Runfola.

“We are excited to have Jenelle join our program this fall. Not only is she a great softball player, but she is a great person as well. She will help us keep our great tradition going and I look forward to working with her,” said Mercyhurst North East softball coach Brian Dewey.

She has an exciting future starting at Mercyhurst University North East in August of 2020.
