Fredonia Unified Bowling claims first place in its division
We are the champions!
CHEEKTOWAGA — The Fredonia Unified Bowling Team had a terrific day on the lanes as they claimed first place in their division at the Unified Bowling Section 6 Tournament.
Fredonia was in a group with Newfane who finished with 1,937 pins, Eden finishing with 2,021 pins, Sweet Home finishing with 2,079 pins and Fredonia claimed first place with a score of 2,149.
The team was led by a couple terrific performances, including Austin Duliba and Amber Meli with a high score of 228. Duliba also paired up with Grayson Krzyzanowicz and bowled a 208, Noah Tarbell and Emma Putney had a 196 and Seth Putnam and Carson Cain also scored a 196.
Putnam was the winner of the Leadership and Encouragement Award.
“The entire season was a win for every single person involved,” stated Coach Alex Conti. “From students to parents to coaches… it was a fantastic endeavor. Congratulations to the administration and board of education and a special thanks to Greg Lauer who stepped up and made it happen.”
The Fredonia Unified team ended the season with a 5-1 record and a total of 33.5 match points. The team had some massive improvements as the year went along, Jessica Sinclair improved her low score to highest score by 70 pins and Josh Knightenger improved by 95 points.
“It made them feel fantastic and it was sure nice to watch them get better and better,” Coach Conti said about his team’s development.
