Robert Maytum Memorial Golf Tournament rescheduled

Special to the OBSERVER

The committee for the 22nd Annual Robert Maytum Memorial Golf Tournament is pleased to announce that this year’s event has been rescheduled for Monday, Sept. 14, on the Upper Course at Peek’n Peak Resort in Findlay Lake.

After careful consideration of the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and looking at several options, the committee feels that the new date is within a safe timeframe and will be respectful of the guidelines in place at that time, keeping all of our golfers and participants healthy and safe.

Co-presenting sponsors of this year’s tournament are Mayville Tremaine Insurance and Beckage LLC. Additionally, the committee is pleased, proud and honored to announce that Luca S. Calanni and the Luca S. Calanni Foundation have been named as this year’s Honorary Chair.

Mark R. Maytum, President and COO of DFT Communications and Chairman of this year’s golf tournament states, “We felt that with the amazing boy that Luca was and how his legacy will live on through the foundation and have an impact on the youth of our area all reflects the core focus of our charitable work. It was only natural that Luca should be honored at this year’s event and the Luca S. Calanni Foundation be recognized for the work that they will continue to do in his honor.”

This tournament continues to be one of our largest charitable events with all proceeds for the event to benefit many local organizations and the work and programs they do in the community, this year including the Luca S. Calanni Foundation. These funds are distributed through the DFT Communications/RMM Golf Tournament Community Betterment Fund held at the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation.

As in the past, the tournament strives to do even better this year, and with continued support, we can make this happen for 2020.

Over the past twenty-one years, over $500,000.00 has been presented to the foundation on behalf of the many golfers, sponsors, donors and participants of the tournament. With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and the major impact it is has had on so many lives, the hope this year is to exceed any amount raised in the past as the needs in the local community are becoming greater and greater.

Committee members for this year’s annual golf tournament are Mark Maytum, Chairman, and Kurt Maytum, Dan Siracuse and Diane Genung. Additional information as well as photo galleries of previous tournaments are available on line at www.rmmgolftournament.com or by calling Dan Siracuse (673-3921) or Diane Genung (673-3037).
