WESTFIELD — Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation, recently announced the cancellation of the WMHF Golf Tournament due to the uncertainty of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on the current restrictions on social gatherings and the concerns of logistics, the decision was made to cancel the upcoming WMHF Golf Tournament – a time-honored tradition for 28 years.

“Because the event is a major source of fundraising for both the hospital and the foundation, it has been a difficult decision but one made with everyone’s well-being in mind,” said WMHF President, Dr. Kathryn S. Bronstein. “While we won’t be gathering on July 10, or enjoying the camaraderie of our friends and associates, we need to continue to focus on the Foundation’s mission to raise money to support all aspects of our treasured hospital,” continued Bronstein.

The WMHF extends its thanks to all the valued donors, including its myriad sponsors, WMH associates, board members and volunteers who work diligently year after year to ensure the golf tournament’s continued success.

In these unprecedented times, WMH has maintained the highest caliber of care and stood ready to help any individual impacted by the pandemic throughout the 14 communities it serves.

“We remain grateful to the true heroes – all of the courageous healthcare workers and first responders on the frontlines,” said WMHF executive director Patricia Gaughan DiPalma. “These brave champions are doing all they can to support our community in the battle against COVID-19. They are standing shoulder-to-shoulder to keep our residents safe and to provide the excellent care residents have come to know and expect.”
