Travel softball tryouts set for Sunday in Falconer

FALCONER — Amherst Lightning fast-pitch travel softball will be holding an open tryout for a 12U and a 14U team on Sunday (with rain out date of Sept. 20) at the Falconer Park softball field located on South Phetteplace Street.

The 12U tryouts will be held at 2 p.m. and the 14U tryouts will be held at 4 p.m. Individual evaluations available upon request if this date is inconvenient. The program is looking for softball players who love the game, are willing to work hard, want to learn, and have the opportunity to develop and become high school and college softball players.

All practices will be held in the Jamestown area with hitting lessons held during the week, and weekend team practices. The team will tentatively play a minimum of one fall tournament, indoor league at Sahlen’s Park in Elma, and six to eight tournaments in the Buffalo, Erie, Rochester, and Corning areas.

The organization believes in developing the player first and softball player second. If interested in potentially becoming a premier softball player, and have the desire and drive to succeed, contact (voice or text) Thomas Mott at 814-730-7016 or Samantha Mott at 716-499-0131 or email ramcotom@gmail.com.

Tom Mott is in his 12th season coaching with Amherst Lightning and is a 13-year assistant coach at Frewsburg Central School. Coach Samantha Mott was a collegiate softball player at Mercyhurst North East and Baldwin Wallace University, and an assistant coach/pitching coach at Lakeland Community College with 17 years softball experience.
