Sergue’s hat trick sends Southwestern past Fredonia

FREDONIA — Sophia Segrue notched a hat trick to lead Southwestern (10-4) to a 3-0 win over Fredonia (6-4-2) in CCAA West Division action.

Ellie Lawton, Emily Kimball and Melissa DeVore each had assists in the win, while Reece Beaver made five saves.

Kyleigh Waterman made 14 saves for the Hillbillies.

GOLDEN COUGARS SNEAK BY JHS

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley (6-9, 6-6) was a 3-2 winner over Jamestown (0-9-2) at Bill Race Field.

Kayla Lynn led the winners with a pair of goals, while Ali Davis converted on a penalty kick at the 30-minute mark of the second half.

Michaela Olson finished with an assist and Grace Lundmark had nine saves for the winners.

Holland Isaacson scored both goals for Jamestown.

GIBBONS LEADS OLEAN

DUNKIRK — Olean (9-2-1) was a 5-0 winner over Dunkirk (2-9-1), thanks to a pair of goals from Alexis Gibbons.

Rebecca Schneider, Delaynie Moore and Paxton Retchless also found the back of the net, and Olivia Kratts also had an assist.

Emma Edwards had two saves and Hayleigh Federowicz had one for the Huskies.

PHILP LEADS RANDOLPH

CATTARAUGUS — Randolph (7-5) was a 3-2 winner over Cattaraugus-Little Valley, thanks to two goals by Natalie Philp in CCAA East play.

Caliana Wheeler assisted on both of those goals in the 11th and 18th minute, respectively, while Alaina Bunker converted from Philp to give Randolph the lead.

The Timberwolves battled back in the second half when Madison Spink found the back of the net from Amelie Metzger, and Samantha Mowry scored unassisted.

Caitlin Park made two saves in the win, while Onalee Osgood had four stops and Chloe Covell two for Cattaraugus-Little Valley (0-11).

PORTVILLE BLANKS WARRIORS

PORTVILLE — Portville (8-3) was a 3-0 winner over Salamanca (7-4).

Teagan Kosinski, Olivia Dean and Mallory Welty all scored with Dean, Welty and Kendall Artlip adding assists.

Faith Capito stopped one shot in the win and Makenzie Oakes made five saves for Salamanca.

EAGLES STILL PERFECT

SOUTH DAYTON — Ellicottville (14-0) topped Pine Valley (3-9), 2-1, behind goals from Audrey Hurlburt and Emilee Ruiz.

Mandy Hurlburt added an assist and Jenna Hadley recorded the shutout.

Sara Kruszka scored for Pine Valley and teammate Lyric Westlund made 12 saves.

NORTH COLLINS PREVAILS

NORTH COLLINS — Lina Young scored twice to lead North Collins (1-11) to a 2-1 win over Silver Creek (1-9-1).

Hailey Jasinski and Kirstyn Lehnortt had assists in the win and Michaela Rice made 15 saves.

Carly Barrett scored in the 19th minute for Silver Creek and Alina Beadle had six saves.

BOYS

TROJANS WIN AT HOME

JAMESTOWN — Max Vaughn scored from Spencer Kane in the first minute of play to lead Southwestern (8-3-1, 8-2-1) to a 2-1 win over Falconer/Cassadaga Valley (3-8, 3-7) on Thursday in CCAA West Division play.

McKay Young added the second goal for the Trojans in the 15th minute.

MAGRO LEADS OLEAN

DUNKIRK — Olean (4-7-1, 4-6-1) was a 9-1 winner over Dunkirk (0-8-1, 0-8-1).

Joe Magro scored three times and had four assists; Quintin Allen added two goals, while single tallies came from Bryce Franklin, Stephen Hoffman and Dominik Kahle.

Thomas Bates had one assist and Al Linderman had two for the winners.

EAGLES WIN ON ROAD

SALAMANCA — Ellicottville (8-3-1, 6-0-1) rolled to a 6-0 win over Salamanca/Cattaraugus-Little Valley (1-8, 1-7) in CCAA East play.

Bryce Butler scored three times and assisted to Clayton Rowland, who finished with two goals and an assist.

Logan Dimpfl added a goal and an assist, while helpers also came from Wyatt Chudy and Mitchell Azcarate.

WEDNESDAY

HILLBILLIES POST SHUTOUT

FALCONER — The Fredonia Hillbillies defeated the Falconer/Cassadaga Valley Golden Cougars, 3-0, in CCAA West boys varsity soccer action on Wednesday night.

Ronan Murphy opened the scoring for the Hillbillies in the 20th minute off a pass from Sal Tabone. In the opening minute of the second half, Jack Carlson scored Fredonia’s second goal off assists from Tabone and Alex Rush. Tabone rounded out the scoring 10 minutes later with the assist going to Josh Reynolds. Fredonia outshot Falconer/Cassadaga Valley, 14-1.

Trevor Persch had one save in goal for the Hillbillies, who improved to 8-1-2 in the league and 8-1-3 overall. They play host to Southwestern at 7 p.m. tonight the Orange Bowl.
