CCAA announces all-star teams

Olean/Portville/Franklinville led the way with five selections in Division 1 and Panama/Maple Grove/Clymer led with eight in Division 2 as the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Swimming & Diving All-Star teams were released Thursday.

League champion Frewsburg/Falconer and Southwestern placed four swimmers on the Division 1 team, Fredonia had three and Jamestown had one.

In Division 2, Allegany-Limestone/Ellicottville followed Panama/Maple Grove/Clymer with five representatives, Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton had two and Salamanca had one.

Junior Alexis Trietley was Olean/Portville/Franklinville’s top swimmer, claiming both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyles as the league meet last month. Sophomore Megan Jackson won the 200-yard freestyle and was second in the 100-yard freestyle. Sara Thomas was fourth in the 200-yard individual medley and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle; Tyyetta Herman was seventh in both the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke; and Olivia Marshall was sixth in the 500-yard freestyle.

Senior Madison Kramer was Frewsburg/Falconer’s top swimmer, capturing the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly at the league meet. Cara Pillittieri won the 500-yard freestyle and took second in the 200-yard freestyle; senior Olivia Ekstrom was second in the 500-yard freestyle and third in the 200-yard freestyle; and junior Brianna Rosequist was second in the 100-yard breaststroke and eighth in the 200-yard individual medley.

Senior Natalie Fosberg, the Trojans’ top swimmer, was second in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard freestyle at the league meet. Junior Teagan Shedd took third in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley; Isabella Grijalva was third in the 50-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle; and senior Ellie Kreinheder was second in the 100-yard backstroke and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle.

Senior Tori Spacciapolli was the Hillbillies’ top swimmer with victories in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley. Senior Amelia Harper was second in both the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly while eighth-grader Elizabeth Pucci-Schaefer won the 1-meter diving competition.

Jamestown sophomore Rheese Maggio completed the Division 1 all-star team after taking second in the 1-meter diving competition.

Allegany-Limestone junior Brooke Pecorella led the Gators with a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly and a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle at the league meet. Freshman Paige Pecorella was second in the 500-yard freestyle and third in the 200-yard freestyle; sophomore Michaella Rhodes won the 1-meter diving competition; freshman Emma Jankowski was third in the 100-yard breaststroke and 12th in the 50-yard freestyle; and senior Lindsay Swalcy was seventh in the 200-yard individual medley.

For Panama/Maple Grove/Clymer, senior Izzi Bailey won the 200-yard individual medley and 500-yard freestyle while sophomore Jo Bailey captured the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle at the league meet. Senior Tessa Mozzi followed with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle and a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle; sophomore Evelyn Montagna was first in the 100-yard breaststroke and third in the 500-yard freestyle; senior Hialeah Johnson claimed the 100-yard backstroke and took fifth in the 50-yard freestyle; junior Madelynn Lisciandro was second in the 200-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle; Sarah Harvey was second in the 1-meter diving competition and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle; and Corinne Hovey was second in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Senior Jade Shampoe took second in both the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly for Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton while her senior teammate Amelia Brown was second in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard freestyle.

Salamanca’s Kamryn Deboy rounded out the Division 2 team after taking second in the 100-yard backstroke and third in the 200-yard individual medley.
