GOWANDA — Prior to Monday’s game, the Gowanda girls lacrosse team was presented its 2021 Section VI Class D championship banner.

Once the game against West Seneca East began, the Panthers showed this year’s squad is still fairly talented.

Chloe Luther had eight goals and 13 draw controls as Gowanda beat the Trojans 13-7 in Conference 1 action.

Ke’Ya Stevens added two goals and two assists while Lily Scanlan, Autumn Nephew and Aurora Stevens each chipped in a goal for the Panthers (1-1, 1-0), who led 7-3 at halftime.

Aailyah Stevens made eight saves in net for Gowanda.

Elizabeth Osmanski led West Seneca East (0-3, 0-1) with three goals and three assists; Gia McIntyre had three goals; and Natalie Cyrek had a goal while Molly Graves made 11 saves in net.
