Gondek, Koopman, Lynn, Jasinski among those honored

Nine Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association girls soccer players were recognized on New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports all-state teams released Sunday.

In Class B, Fredonia’s Annie Gondek and Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Kayla Lynn were named to the Third Team while the Hillbillies’ Ella Koopman was named to the Fifth Team.

In Class C, Frewsburg’s Alex Hultberg and Ava Jimerson were named to the Second Team while Portville’s Teagan Kosinski was named to the Third Team.

In Class D, Ellicottville’s Audrey Hurlburt was named to the Second Team and Alyssa Williams was named to the Third Team while North Collins’ Hailey Jasinski was named to the Fourth Team.

Gondek led Fredonia with 16 goals and eight assists while Koopman had four goals and three assists as the Hillbillies won their second straight Section VI Class B2 title and shared the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West crown.

Lynn led the Golden Cougars with 18 goals and six assists.

Hultberg was named The Post-Journal/OBSERVER Player of the Year for the third straight season after posting 26 goals and 26 assists while Jimerson had 29 goals and 20 assists for the Bears, who won their fourth straight Section VI Class C crown.

Kosinski had 13 goals and three assists for the Panthers.

Hurlburt led Ellicottville with 25 goals and seven assists while Williams had 11 goals and 17 assists for the Eagles, who won the Section VI Class D championship for the second straight season.

Jasinski made 99 saves and allowed just 11 goals in net for North Collins.

In Class AA, Section XI North Babylon senior goalkeeper Savannah Rogers was named the Player of the Year and Clarence’s Matt Andrews shared the Coach of the Year with Section XI Ward Melville’s John Diehl. Clarence senior midfielder Kailey O’Brien was named to the First Team, Clarence junior attack Sammi Jo Payne was named to the Second Team, Clarence senior attack Gabby Irwin and Williamsville North senior midfielder Isabella Schmidt were named to the Third Team, Frontier senior defender Baillie Colling was named to the Fourth Team, Frontier senior goalkeeper Abby Zymkowiak was named to the Fifth Team, and Clarence senior goalkeeper Emily McClouth and Lancaster junior midfielder Julia Benham were named to the Sixth Team.

In Class A, Section I Albertus Magnus junior attack Gabby Chan was named the Player of the Year and Albertus Magnus’ Dan Samimi was named the Coach of the Year. Grand Island senior midfielder Ella Rudney, Williamsville East junior midfielder Gianna Tuzzolino and Williamsville South sophomore attack Ava Plezia were named to the Second Team, Amherst sophomore midfielder Sophie Rourke was named to the Third Team, Niagara Wheatfield sophomore attack Marisa Rickard and Williamsville East junior defender Claire Wollingham were named to the Fourth Team, Niagara Wheatfield senior defender Gwen Jarosz was named to the Fifth Team and Nardin senior defender Mary Malloy was named to the Sixth Team.

Nichols junior midfielder Linda Ullmark was named the Class B Player of the Year and Section Irvington’s Pat DiBenedetto was named the Coach of the Year. Lewiston-Porter senior attack Sophie Auer was named to the First Team, City Honors senior attack Uma Bhattacharjee was named to the Third Team, East Aurora senior midfielder Anna Bean, Royalton-Hartland sophomore attack Kaitlin Mettler and Nichols sophomore defender Mara Batchen were named to the Fourth Team and City Honors senior goalkeeper Ava Purks was named to the Fifth Team.

Section II Waterford Halfmoon seventh-grader Payton Galuski was named the Class C Player of the Year and Waterford Halfmoon’s Meghan Reynolds was named the Coach of the Year. St. Mary’s senior midfielder Claire Deangelis and junior midfielder Kristin Middaugh were named to the First Team.

Section IX Mount Academy freshman Brooke Huleatt was named the Class D Player of the Year and Mount Academy’s John Huleatt was named the Coach of the Year.
