Cougars down Hillbillies 46-35

SINCLAIRVILLE — A week ago, the Cassadaga Valley girls basketball team dropped a nonleague contest on the road to Fredonia. On Wednesday night, the Cougars (3-3, 0-0) returned the favor as Aliyah Hopkins paced Cassadaga Valley with 14 points, 20 rebounds and seven blocks in a 46-35 victory over the Hillbillies (3-2, 0-0).

Hailey Anderson helped Hopkins dominate the glass with nine rebounds, collected four assists and grabbed three steals; Andrea Johnson scored 12 points and grabbed four steals while Emiley Anderson scored 9 points, made five steals and had two blocks.

WOLVERINES HOLD OFF PANTHERS

WESTFIELD — Tanleigh Bestine dropped 24 points, grabbed five rebounds and made four steals to lead the Westfield Wolverines to a 46-36 victory over Gowanda (3-3, 0-0) in a nonleague contest.

Haleigh Dellow added 11 points, 12 boards, five assists and four steals while Mackenzie Schumaker pitched in 8 points, and made four steals in the Wolverines (5-2, 0-2 CCAA D2 West) winning effort.
