JCC trustees approve 2019-20 budget with tuition hike

Jamestown Community College’s 2019-20 budget has been approved by the college’s board of trustees.

The new $33,600,250 budget is the first created under the administration of Daniel T. DeMarte, who became the college’s president on July 30, 2018. JCC’s new fiscal year begins September 1, 2019.

“The process of developing the budget has been ongoing since last fall, determining where to make operational cuts, prioritizing new initiatives designed to enhance enrollment and generate revenue, and modernizing the funding model. Thanks to a successful advocacy campaign, the revised funding model was enacted in the recently completed New York State budget cycle, and is being considered by JCC’s sponsors. The revised model will provide predictability and stability for our sponsors and the college.” said Dr. DeMarte.

The approved budget includes a state aid amount of $2,947 per full-time equivalent (FTE), which is up 3.5% from the 2018-19 budget. Full-time New York resident tuition will increase by $85 to $2,520 per semester. The out-of-state tuition rate will be $5,040 per semester. Mike Martello, vice president for administration noted, “JCC’s administration appreciates the support the board of trustees and its sponsors has given to the college throughout the budget development process.”
