16 projects in Chautauqua County awarded grant funds

Sixteen projects across Chautauqua County have received a total of $6,131,109 through the 2019 Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) Awards.

The REDC initiative was established in 2011 by New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo. It created 10 regional councils across the state to develop long-term strategic plans for economic growth in their regions. Today, Cuomo announced the awards presented to each region and the Western New York REDC received $67.3 million for 109 projects across Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Niagara Counties. The following funds were awarded for projects in Chautauqua County:

$2,940,000 to Empire State Brands for its Grow Chautauqua Project;

$1,346,000 to the Gebbie Foundation for its Furniture Mart Redevelopment Project;

$748,736 to the Town of Ripley for its Main Street Sewer Replacement Project;

$298,318 to the City of Dunkirk for its Wright Park Phase II Project;

$240,000 to the National Comedy Center for its Tourism Marketing Campaign;

$149,355 to the Western New York Land Conservancy for its purchase of the College Forest land;

$135,000 to the City of Dunkirk for its Brownfield Marketing Project;

$48,200 to Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District for its Road Ditch Stabilization Program;

$45,000 to the Town of North Harmony for its South Chautauqua Lake Multi-Municipal Water District Initiative;

$30,000 to Chautauqua County for its Orchard Terrace Sewer Inflow and Infiltration Study;

$30,000 to the City of Dunkirk for its Wastewater Treatment Plant and Collection System Study;

$30,000 to the Town of Pomfret for its Wastewater Treatment Facility Nutrient Reduction Study;

$30,000 to the Town of Cherry Creek for its Sewer Study;

$24,000 to the Town of Dunkirk for its Public Sewer Collection System Study;

$24,000 to the Town of Sheridan for it Public Sewer Collection System Study; and

$12,500 to Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Inc. for its Workforce Expansion Initiative.

“These awards are great news for Chautauqua County,” said Acting Chautauqua County Executive Stephen Abdella. “It is very exciting that the Gebbie Foundation (Furniture Mart Building), Empire State Brands (Hops and Grain Integrated Processing Facility), and the Town of Ripley (Main Street Sewer Replacement) were among the largest grant recipients in Chautauqua County. I congratulate all of the awardees and the many grant writers for their successful Consolidating Funding Applications. I also thank Governor Cuomo and the WNY REDC for their continued investment in Western New York and Chautauqua County.”
