A local drum corps is getting ready for the upcoming season.

With only a little more than two months left before Memorial Day, WNY Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps, Inc. business manager Jack Kujawa reported, “This corps is pretty much ready musically and as the weather gets warmer, we’ll be perfecting our marching skills. We can’t complain about the weather, we’ve had a fair winter so far. We’ve been very fortunate because we picked up some talented horn players and drummers. We also have members living in Florida for the winter who will be rejoining us in May. The corps is almost done with their recruiting for the season.”

Corps Director Robert Teclaw, noted, “I think a lot of people will be surprised by the size and sound of the corps this year. I personally am pleased that a lot of our members have other family members marching with them. I see this as a family corps, so this is very satisfying.”

“Everything has been positive for us this off-season. This corps is definitely headed in the right direction. Every year we keep growing. We’re the only corps left in the county,” Kujawa added.

Anyone who would like to experience the drum crops activity can join. There are still openings available in the drum and horn lines, and some guard positions. This is a great opportunity to advance one’s musical skills. All instruction and instruments are provided at no cost.
