CASSADAGA -- A Smartdriver Safety Class, sponsored by AARP, has been set for Dec. 18 and Dec. 20, starting at 1 p.m. and ending about 4:15 p.m., hosted by the Cassadaga Branch Library, 18 Maple Ave. Participants must attend both class days, and must bring their driver's license.

Taking the class may reduce car insurance premiums up to 10 percent and may eliminate up to four penalty points from the student's driver's license. The cost is $20 for AARP members, and $25 for non-members. The fee must be paid by check or money order. The class is oriented toward drivers age 50 and over, but is open to drivers of all ages. The driver safety class certificate is valid for three years.

The class covers a variety of topics such as the three second following rule, aging problems, checking your vehicle, driving strategies, changing technologies and more. The class provides a manual for participants and utilizes an instruction DVD.

To register for the class, call Doug Arters, instructor at 490-3880. If no response, leave a massage.
