Great Lakes Physician Practice welcomes orthopaedic surgeons
JAMESTOWN — James Fitzgerald, M.D. and Brian Mata, M.D. have both joined the Great Lakes Physician Practice (GLPP) offering the latest in minimally invasive surgeries and the treatment of conditions that affect knees, shoulders, and hips, as well as hands and wrists.
Dr. Fitzgerald grew up in western New York and has practiced here for more than 30 years, most recently at Lakeshore Orthopedic Group. He has performed more than 3,000 joint replacements. A graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine, he completed his residency at the SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. He completed an orthopaedic hand surgical fellowship at SUNY Buffalo Medical School.
Dr. Mata, also a local native, has been practicing in the area for four years. He received his medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine where he also completed an orthopaedic surgical residency.
Currently the U.S. Lacrosse Team physician, he also provided coverage for the Washington National professional baseball team and the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens along with many college sports teams after completing a sport medicine fellowship with MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Locally, he cares for high school athletes as well as SUNY Fredonia athletes.
