Dunkirk man facing stolen weapons charges

In October, deputies received a report of stolen firearms from a residence in the town of Portland.

After investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, deputies later determined that Jarrett J. Sikes, 39, of Dunkirk had allegedly taken seven firearms from a location in the town of Portland. Deputies later retrieved a portion of the missing firearms at Sikes’ residence in the city of Dunkirk.

An arrest warrant was later issued from the Portland Town Court for third-degree grand larceny as well as with the Dunkirk City Court for criminal possession of stolen property, both felony charges.

Sikes was arrested on the outstanding warrants this past Tuesday.

Sikes was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail by the City of Dunkirk judge in lieu of bail. Sikes will appear in both the City of Dunkirk and the Town of Portland courts at a later date and time.
