Partners in Kind of Chautauqua County is excited to announce their upcoming projects for spring, and is calling on those in the community who would like to volunteer their time or resources.
March begins this year’s Easter Baskets for the Elderly campaign this month. PIK is accepting donations of the following items for the Easter baskets:
¯ stamps
¯ notecards
¯ pens
¯ crosswords/wordsearch books, journals
¯ lip balm, tissues, soap, hand lotion
¯ chocolate bunnies, hard candy, water, individual veggies
¯ lottery scratch-offs
¯ solar animal trinkets
¯ baskets and clear raffle basket bags
Those interested in donating items can contact Team Leader Kate Fryberger at 410-2221. Those who are interested in assembling and/or distributing baskets should mark their calendars for Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19.
The Touch-A-Truck event is set for Saturday, May 4 at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a sensory-friendly time from 9 to 10 a.m. The planning committee is in need of a number of volunteers to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Currently, volunteers are needed for ticket sales/collection, parking attendants and “truck attendants,” who can assist guests at the vehicles and answer questions. To get involved, email Chelsea at fins5833@gmail.com.
This year’s Cool to be Kind project, Cool to be Kind benches, will be kicking off in early April. PIK is working closely with the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, the Dunkirk Student Council and various municipalities to place decorated benches around Chautauqua County. Those interested in helping with this project should contact Melissa Pietrkiewicz at melissa@partnersinkindchq.org.
